I recently went out to eat, and my boyfriend had his drink in a plastic cup that said it was "100% Biodegradable."  I couldn't believe it, so we asked the place about it. It turns out, the bottle was made out of corn! Maybe I'm just a nerd, but I think this is really exciting. Plastic is made from oil-- extremely finite and the cause of many wars. To know that we can make plastic out of corn is exciting to me. It's a sign that maybe we can finally move on from oil and look to the future.  This will most likely drive up the price of corn, but I think the positive far outweighs the negative. I think every restaurant and bottler should start using corn plastic, but I don't know if that'll happen. There's just too much money, power, and politics tied up in oil for people to make this step right now.
